Carpet cleaning is important for several reasons....

Carpet repair is important for several reasons....

Hand-knotted carpets

  • Origins: The origins of hand-knotted carpets are in Asia, particularly in Persia (modern Iran), where carpets were woven as functional and decorative works of art. A rich tradition of carpet making also developed in other parts of Asia, such as India, Turkey and Central Asia.

  • Antique tradition: The oldest preserved hand-knotted rugs date back to the 5th century B.C. and were found in Siberia. These early carpets were often geometric in nature.

  • Influence on art and culture: Carpets were used not only as floor coverings, but also as wall hangings and as symbolic works of art. They were often characterized by intricate designs, patterns and colors that reflected the culture and history of the maker.

Before / After

Trade routes

Carpets became a valuable trade commodity along the ancient silk routes, exchanging them for other goods. This led to cultural exchange and the spread of carpet art around the world.

Hand-woven kelims

  • Origin: Kilims have their roots in several cultures, including Persian, Anatolian and Caucasian, but they are primarily associated with the nomadic peoples of Central Asia and the Middle East.

  • Nomadic lifestyle: Kilims were often woven by nomadic tribes as functional pieces. They served as rugs, wall hangings, bags and even tent linings.

  • Simple and functional: Kilims are characterized by their simple designs, geometric patterns and bright colors. They are known for their durability and versatility.

Cultural Preservation

Kilims often contain symbols and patterns that reflect the culture and traditions of the weaving community. They are considered an important part of cultural heritage.

Both handmade art forms, hand-knotted rugs and hand-woven kilims, have had a profound influence on art, culture and commerce around the world. They remain prized artifacts and functional floor coverings to this day.
